What is a blog?
A blog “(a portmanteau of web log) is a website where entries are written in chronological order and commonly displayed in reverse chronological order.” (Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog 10/15/07)
Why do I ask my students to blog?

I use the blog to allow my students to participate in an online literary discussion of what we’re reading in class. I feel it is valuable for students to hear/read comments of other students (especially when I teach more than one section of the same class.) Stronger writers also model good writing in their comments.

Students in my writing classes also publish their writing to the blog so they can get feedback from their peers and others who happen to read their work on the web. Such comments are invaluable.

Moreover, many college classes are conducted completely online so it is important for students to be exposed to components of that environment before they reach the collegiate level.

Finally, blogging is supported by both Michigan Technology Standards (METS: Technology and Communiation Tools # 1-4, Technology and Productivity Tools # 6, 7 and Basic Operations # 1, 6, 7, 12) and International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards (NETS: 3 A, C, and D).
However, this blog is not just intended for my students. I also use my blog to reflect on my professional experiences on the Self Reflection page.
How do you participate?

Click on the link for your class in the Page section of the blog located in the upper right hand corner.

Locate the questions for the week. Then click on the comment bubble underneath the questions to submit your answer. *Be sure to click on the Directions link (under Page) and read what is required for a good comment.

Click on the Contribute button underneath the post. Fill in the appropriate blanks. Your comment will not be submitted unless you enter a name and email address. The email address will not be seen by anyone but the teacher(s).

If you read something that you like or with which you disagree, feel free to submit a comment and tell the student what you think. Feedback from people other than the teacher is important and very much appreciated.

Doing your school work is by far the most important thing to do in high school. You can not afford to lose any single credit in high school or you will not graduate. Basically what it comes down to is doing your work. If you just do your work you automatically have a passing grade in class. If you do your work and don’t study for test’s you still have knowledge from doing your work to help you barely get by the test. Doing your work is so important you need to use your class time effectively and just get the work done in class. If you cannot get your work done in class, take maybe thirty minutes of your time while you are at home to complete your work that you couldn’t finish in class.
I have a part time job, I work Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I am a full time school student Monday through Friday. I am also a full time cheerleader for an all star team called trilogy. We practice Monday, Wednesday and Sunday. Managing all of this at one time is difficult I have two of these things every single day besides Thursday. I have a very full and booked schedule and I make it through all of my class’s everyday. My daily routine is to go to school, go home and study and do my work and than go to work or cheer. I keep myself very occupied at all times with my full schedule and if I can handle this I am sure you can too. Managing your school work and a job and any extra curricular activity is a mindset.
When you are preparing for a test you need to make sure you have the right studying materials. I would include your study guide if you get one and any type of notes that’s on the chapters your test is on. Flash cards are a very good studying source, they help me a lot. On one side of the flash card you need the question and the second side an answer obviously. When you are studying your test reviews you cannot go over the same material in the same order because the information will get stuck in your head in a certain order than you study it in. so in this case make sure you mix up your answers in different order. Studying is for a test is a priority for high school because you will never get a good grade on a test without studying.

Well hello freshman, we have all been in your position before but there are many things that I can tell you that will help you get through your high school career better.
When you first enter a class in high school you need to work hard all year every day because once you get behind a little bit it seems to get worse and worse really fast and you can not fail classes because you need your credits to graduate. The easiest way to get through your classes is to pay attention very well and do not be afraid to ask questions to make sure you no what your doing and understand things right. When I first came into high school I goofed around for 2 years and I regret every minute of it because it is deffinently not worth it because I am a junior and now next ear I will be taking 2 math classes because I didn’t get all of my math credits threw out my sophomore and the first semester of my junior year. Always be sure to study very hard for all your tests and quiz’s. at the end of each semester there are always exams be sure to put a lot of time into studying for them cause those effect your grades a lot in that semester and you need to get the best grades you can and high school with be a lot more fun for you. If you goof off and do bad high school can be very stressful because your constantly hiding your grades from your parents and you don’t want your classmates to see your tests or class grades if there bad because then you kind of feel dumb. But the best advice that I can give to any of you is to give it your best every minute you’re here because you’re here either way so you mine as well make the best off it

Im Fezzik!! Ingio and I got shocked from finding a door to being unlocked. Humperdinck’s creatvie evil self created a door only as a false entrance! We went through and smelled a strong nasty odor of animals.. In other words we died.

Hello everyone, Westley here. Inigo and Fezzik just gave me Miracle Max’s pill and it worked, it really is a miracle. Apparently, I was told it looked like a giant chocolate covered turd. Despite it looking like a turd, I’m alive now and on my way to go rescue my true love, Buttercup. I will update you guys after my successful rescue.

Okay guys, Westley here again. We just tied up Prince Humperdinck and are on our way now leaving the castle. Fezzik got us some horses and we are all about to get out of here. As for me and Buttercup, we are going to live happily ever after. Until next time guys.
