My name is Linda Clinton and I am a Literacy Coach in East Detroit Public Schools. While I’m assigned to Kelly Middle School, I also work closely with the other coach in the district to support teachers in helping students become better readers and writers. I’m a bit of a “techie” and definitely a life-long learner. I love the the opportunity to learn out loud with educators around the world through social media like blogs and Twitter. Check out the My Digital Footprint page for links to other things I do on the web!
Prior to my current assignment, I held a variety of positions in the district: junior high choir, K-6 general music, grades 2-5 (including looping with a combination class), and elementary media center. I have also run a district-wide after-school enrichment program, as well as several different summer programs. I successfully defended my dissertation on December 13, 2010, and earned my PhD in Educational Leadership from Oakland University.
I am also an active member of the East Detroit Federation of Teachers. I’m currently treasurer of the Committee on Political Education (COPE)–a position I’ve held for over ten years–and a member of the negotiating team.
