June 6, 2010: Weekly Reminders

WOW!!! I can’t believe that this is our last week of school. What a wonderful year this has been. I have truly enjoyed having you all in my class this year. I have enjoyed watching you grow and change since September. Here are a few reminders for our short week.

1. 2nd GRADE CELEBRATION: We will be having our Second Grade Bash at Somerset Pool on Tuesday and so far the weather looks wonderful. Please make sure that your child wears their swimsuit to school under their clothes. Everyone must have a swimsuit in order to go in the pool, no shorts will be allowed. Please make sure that your child brings a bag with them that has their towel and a water bottle in it. If you would like your child to wear sunscreen, please apply it to them before they come to school. We will be grilling hot dogs there, so there is no need to send a lunch, unless your child will not be eating the lunch that is being provided. If you are coming to be a chaperone, please be to school by 10:15, we will be walking to the pool shortly after that.

2. FIELD DAY: We will be participating in field day on Thursday. Please have your child wear their second grade t-shirt to school that day. Also, please send a water bottle to school with your child. We will be outside for most of the morning and the children will get thirsty. If you would like your child to wear sunscreen, please apply it to them before they come to school.

3. LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: Thusday will be the last day of school. It is a half day and dismissal will be at 12:00. Backpacks will not be allowed at school that day. Your child will be bringing home all of their supplies on Wednesday.

June 4, 2010: Way To Go Girls!!!!

Last night I was lucky enough to have been invited to see 4 of our girls in their dance recital. Abigael, Brooke, Lauren, and Sydney did an AWESOME job dancing in all of their dances. Kayla and I both had a wonderful time, thanks for inviting us!!!

June 4, 2010: Leveled Reading Website!!

With our Title One funds, our school was able to buy memberships for every student to the McGraw-Hill Leveled Reader website. This is an awesome site!!!! There are thousands of books to chose from.  All of the books are leveled and you can search for your child’s reading level (this level can be found on their report card).  These books can be read by your child and they can also listen to the stories. Today, your child should have brought home a card that had their username and password on it. I am putting a link to the website on our blog under “Educational Links”. I am also putting a link here. If you would like to visit the site, just click on the picture below and it will take you there.
