January 20, 2012: Book Treasure Book

Today we read the story The Wild Toboggan Ride by: Suzan ReidAw… you know the feeling of sledding. You always want to go back for ONE LAST RIDE, right? Pity grown-ups forget that sort of thing. They really need reminding…Like… maybe… the sort of reminding that happens when your grandpa accidentally falls onto your toboggan and you go sliding all the way through town, picking up bakers and cops and mailmen on the way? Each new person causes the rest of them to squabble about sitting still in their own spots, which of course is wildly amusing given that they’re going at three times top speed down that hill. It actually reminds me a lot of No Jumping on the Bed!And of course, Grandpa is the one who runs back up at the end… for just that one last ride. Your child should have brought home their envelope, retelling sheet, and a snowflake. Retelling sheets and envelopes are due back to school by Tuesday. January 17, 2012: Geometry Game

I just found this fun geometry game. You have to classify 2D and 3D shapes. You have to drag the shapes to the correct basket. The shapes go by REALLY fast, so you have to be on your toes. If you would like to play the game, just click on the picture below. Leave a comment here and let us know what you thought of the game.

January 13, 2012: Math Club

Today, we had our first meeting of the Math Club. We started off with Mrs. Laidlaw reading a book called, A Quarter From the Tooth Fairy. Then we got to “shop” at the candy store. We had to show different money amounts with our coins in order to buy the candy. Then we got to do a bunch of money centers. We also got a packet to take home with some money games to play with our families. We hope that everyone had fun, and we will see you next Friday!!

January 13, 2012: Mystery Reader

We had our first Mystery Reader since we’ve been back from break. The kids were really excited to have Andrew’s mom come in and be our Mystery Reader today. She read us a really good book called Porcupine Quilly. She also brought us in some candy. A HUGE thank you to Andrew’s mom for coming in today to be our Mystery Reader!!!
