About Our Blog

Hello!! My name is Michelle Short, and I am a second grade teacher at Eisenhower Elementary in Fraser, Michigan. I started our classroom blog in August, 2009 as an assignment for a technology class that I was taking. Once I started, I was addicted!!!!! I love sharing what’s going on in our classroom with parents, family, and people from all over the world. I have been amazed at how many people have visited our blog!! When I started it, it was mostly to share information with parents. As the year has progressed, I have tried to share student’s work, as well as some pod casts and videos. Next year, I would like to do even more of this. So, take a look around and feel free to leave a comment and let us know who you are, where you are from, and what you think of our blog!!

  1. Hello,

  2. Hi Michelle Short,

Thank you for sharing your website. It serves as a great resource for your school, students, parents, and teachers. I am truly amazed as your organization of pages and constant updates. You are definitely an incredible role model teacher. Your website has inspired me to create one once I become a teacher. I am currently in a Special Education Credential Program in California and will be finished with it this May. I can’t wait to have my classroom and offer such support and information as you have. It’s vital to have great communication between teachers and parents. Your website is exemplary. Thank you again!

  3. I will be teaching grade two in the fall…..so excited!! We will be introduced to Daily 5 next week. Your site is fantastic!! Lots of great ideas. Thanks

  4. Molly was different looking than the other boys and girls. Her grandma helped her not to be sad by telling her nice things about herself. Molly learned to be happy that she could do things that no one else could do like putting ten pennies on her front tooth. My favorite thing about the story was how Molly believed in herself even though the other kids picked on her.

  5. Beautiful website!! I came across it when I was looking at using the daily5. I would love to do put together a website that is fun like this. How did you start it, what were the basics you used to create it and do you expand it continually? You did a fantastic job and you certainly inspired me. I have been teaching 15 years, 13 in second grade. We use Word Press as a school wide teacher page, Started using Daily 5 and Café this year, very impressed with both programs.

  6. Hello,
Thank you for the compliments. I took a class and had to start a blog as an assignment, that was five years ago. My suggestion is to just start small and add as you go. I worked on mine a lot during the summer of the first year I had it. I started with just a few pages on the side and added over time. I am continuously adding, I add 4-8 new posts a week. Good luck!!
