3-3-15: Harder Subtraction Facts Games

 This week we started our harder subtraction Mad Minutes and many students are struggling with them. Here are a couple of games to help them practice these harder facts. Just click on the picture to get to the games.

March 2, 2015: Spelling~Unit 19

Today, your child should have brought home their spelling pretest. Please help them review the words, our test will be on Friday. Spelling homework was also sent home today. This week’s skill is working with contractions. Don’t forget that spelling homework is due back to school by Friday. 2-24-15: Spelling~ Unit 18

This week we are working on Unit 18 in Spelling. Please, don’t forget to visit Spelling City to play some games with this week’s words. Also remember, our spelling words are recycled, which means they are used over and over throughout the year. This week’s spelling skill is working with digraphs. A digraph is when two letters come together to make a new sound. If you would like to play a game with digraphs, just click on the picture below to get to the website. Spelling homework is due by Friday this week.

November 10, 2014: Spelling~Unit 10

This week we are working on Unit 10 in Spelling. Your child should have brought home their pretest and homework sheet today. This week’s skill is proofreading (finding words that are misspelled.) Homework is due back to school by Friday. If you would like to practice this week’s skill, just click on the picture below. It’s a fun proofreading game that will have you proofreading  for capitalization, punctuation, and spelling. Once at the site, just click on grade 2. Have fun!!!!!

This week we are working on Unit 9 in Spelling. The pretest and homework paper should have come home today. Please make sure that the homework paper is back to school by Friday. This week’s skill is working with the suffixes s, ed, and ing (yes, we had this skill a few weeks ago). October 20, 2014: Harder Mad Minutes

Last week we started our harder mad minutes. These are addition problems with sums greater than 10. Many students are struggling with these. Please consider purchasing some addition flash cards and have your child practice a few minutes each night. I have also found a fun game to practice these harder facts. To play the game, just click on the picture below. Once at the website, click on “practice facts 1-10.”

October 19, 2014: Spelling~Unit 7

This week we are working on Unit 7 in spelling. The pretest and homework sheet should have come home today. Please help your child study for the test on Friday. This week our tests will go from 10 words to 12 words. This week’s spelling skill is working with the endings; s, ed, and ing.
