November 10, 2014: Spelling~Unit 10

This week we are working on Unit 10 in Spelling. Your child should have brought home their pretest and homework sheet today. This week’s skill is proofreading (finding words that are misspelled.) Homework is due back to school by Friday. If you would like to practice this week’s skill, just click on the picture below. It’s a fun proofreading game that will have you proofreading  for capitalization, punctuation, and spelling. Once at the site, just click on grade 2. Have fun!!!!!

November 3, 2014: Spelling~Unit 9

This week we are working on Unit 9 in Spelling. The pretest and homework paper should have come home today. Please make sure that the homework paper is back to school by Friday. This week’s skill is working with the suffixes s, ed, and ing (yes, we had this skill a few weeks ago). October 26, 2014: Spelling~Unit 8

This week we are working on Unit 8 in spelling. Your child should have brought home their pretest today. Please help them study for the test on Friday. The spelling homework should have also come home today and is due by Friday. October 19, 2014: Spelling~Unit 7

This week we are working on Unit 7 in spelling. The pretest and homework sheet should have come home today. Please help your child study for the test on Friday. This week our tests will go from 10 words to 12 words. This week’s spelling skill is working with the endings; s, ed, and ing. If you would like to practice this skill, you can click on the picture below to go to a game called, Fish ‘Em Up.

October 13, 2014: Spelling~Unit 6

We are working on Unit 6 in spelling this week. Your child should have brought home their pretest today. Please make sure that your child is studying those 6 words. Also, a lot of students are mixing up there and their. Please make sure that your child understands the meaning of each word. These words will keep showing up on future tests. This week’s skill is working with homophones. Homophones are words that sound the same, but have different meanings and spellings. Please make sure your child cuts out the cards and practices the words. They need to bring back the top of the sheet with a parent signature saying that they practiced the words. October 6, 2014: Spelling~Unit 5

This week we are working on Unit 5 for Spelling. Your child should have brought home their pretest today. PLEASE make sure that your child is studying these 6 words for the test on Friday. A spelling homework paper should have also come home today. This week’s skill is working with silent letters. Spelling homework is due by Friday. If you would like to practice using silent letters, click on the picture below to play a game called, “Silent Invaders.” Make sure your sound is turned on on your computer.

September 22, 2014: Spelling~Unit 3

This week we are working on Unit 3 in spelling. The skill for the week is the spelling patterns of “ou” and “ow”. Spelling homework is due back to school by Friday. Please help your child study for the test on Friday. Also, I found a website to practice the “ou” and “ow” spelling patterns. Just click on the picture below to go to the website. September 15, 2014: Spelling~ Unit 2

This week we are working on Unit 2 in spelling. Your child should have brought home their spelling pretest with the 6 new words on it today. The test will be on Friday, please help your child study these words. Spelling homework also came home today. Spelling homework is due by Friday.This week’s skill is working with short vowel words. Below is a game that you can play to help review the short vowel sounds. Just click on the picture and it will take you to the website. Have fun!!!

September 8, 2014: Spelling~Unit 1

Today we began our first spelling unit. Your child should have brought home their pretest today. This pretest contains 6 of the words that will be on the test on Friday. Please help your child study these words. Your child should have also brought home a spelling homework paper. Spelling homework will always come home on Monday, and is due back to school by Friday. If they finish it before then, they may bring it back early. This week’s spelling skill is making words with the given letters. This skill will also be tested on Friday along with the words. Also, on the back of the homework paper is a tic-tac-toe game with spelling activities on it. These activities are great ways for your child to practice their weekly spelling words. If your child does 3 activities and a parent signs the bottom, they will earn extra Eagle Bucks. This is an optional activity, but is a great way to study the words for the weekly tests.

May 19, 2014: Spelling~Unit 26

Today, your child should have brought home their spelling pretest. Please help your child study these words for the test on Friday. They should have also brought home their spelling homework. This week’s skill is working with “surprise words’ or tricky words. Please make sure your child does one of the activities listed on the sheet with the words.
