This past Friday, we attempted the Save Fred Challenge. Fred the worm had his boat capsize. He ended up on top of it and his life preserver was underneath it. Using only 4 paperclips, no hands, the students had to try to save him by getting him his life preserver. This was a great problem solving and team building activity!
Yesterday we put the final touches on our Cardboard Challenge projects then we got to share them with everyone. It was exciting to see all of the cool things that everyone made!!
Today, we took the Marshmallow Challenge. Students were given 20 pieces of spaghetti, 3 marshmallows, 1 yard of string, and 1 yard of tape. They were challenged to build the tallest tower. They planned, built, and problem solved with their groups. Take a look at some of our pictures.
Last week we did the Cup Challenge. Groups were given a stack of different size cups and were challenged to build the tallest tower! Two groups built towers that were 39 inches tall. Students had a lot of fun planning, building, problem solving and working together. Take a look at our towers!
Last week we created a silly story in an app called Mad Libs. When we were done, we illustrated our stories. Take a look at our pictures below of our Mad Libs stories. Just click on the picture to view the whole story.
This week we wrote about the story elements in one of our book basket books. Then we made a “Gami” in an app called Tellagami. We designed our person and background, then we recorded our voices reading our presentations about our story elements. There is a 30 second time limit, so please excuse some of us who were speaking quickly to get it all in:-) Just click on the picture below to get to our classroom weebly to view/listen to our presentations.
