How to Use This Site…

Welcome to Room 136 on the web.

I’ve attempted to put all of my web information in one place, so there’s a lot going on here.

At the top of the page, there are tabs. If you click on the Posts tab, you’ll get list of every post on the blog from the most recent to the oldest. It’s a pretty traditional way to organize a blog, but it’s not very helpful if you’re looking for something specific.

Here is how you concentrate on just the stuff you’re interested in:

See the “Looking for Something?” area in the left sidebar? If you click on a category, a page will load with postings for just that category.

Want to check current assignments? Click on the Agenda category.

Want to read student writing or listen to an audio file? Click on In Our Words.

Now look at the Live Binders tab at the top of the page. These online “binders” contain links to web resources used in various language arts and social studies activities, and the Exploring Logic class.

Finally, in the right sidebar is the Subscribe by E-Mail form. If you type in your e-mail address, you’ll receive a notice every time these pages are updated. You can opt out anytime by clicking the cancel link in the e-mails you receive.

Hope this helps,

Mr. O’Neil

New Book Review Blog!

The Reading Notes book review blog has been quietly but officially launched. Student-written reviews that used to be hosted in thier own category on this blog, will now have their very own home. Students who have trouble selecting a book to read can now see what their classmates have read and liked (or disliked). It also includes links to useful reading lists developed by teen readers. You may check it out by clicking here.

Classroom Pet

Since we’ve shown real responsibility and proven we can keep our virtual fish alive, we’ve added a friendly hamster to our classroom web page. He’ll follow your cursor with great curiosity (curious if he’ll get fed, no doubt!). Click to feed him, or click the center of the wheel to make him run. His name is Kenny.
