Classroom Rules

I strongly believe that children should have a role in the making of class rules. Expectations will be discussed and we will determine our class rules together. The entire school has a set of expectations to follow and our classroom will be following these as well.  Once everything has been established, the rules will be reinforced in the following manner:

Each child has a green, yellow, and red card with their name on it. The children start every day on a green card. When a child is not following the rules, they get a warning. If poor behavior continues, their green card is pulled. If the behavior still continues, the yellow card is pulled and they will serve 10 minutes in the hallway or in another classroom and you will be notified.  If the behavior still continues, the child will pull their red card. They will then be taken down to the principal to explain their behavior. You will again be informed of the incident(s).

Each day the students will be given a fresh start to try and improve their behavior. The above policy is for behavioral purposes only. There is a different program set up for students who have difficulty returning homework or complete work in class.

 Birthdays

Your child’s birthday is a very special time. We will be doing monthly birthday celebrations as a class. More information will be shared soon. Our school will be changing some policies this year.

Green Folder (Go Folder):

The green folder is sent home with your child everyday. This folder may include important notes, class work, book orders, etc. Please return this folder with your child everyday. You may put lunch money, notes, or any other important information into it. Please let your child take on the responsibility of putting the folder into their backpack every day.

 Red Folder (Stop Folder):

This folder will stay in your child’s desk at school. This is where your child puts his/her work that will be completed at a later time. If your child brings this home, please send it back right away in order to prevent lost class work.

 Party Fund

The 1st grade teachers are asking for a $7.00 donation per student to cover the cost of class parties, additional crafts, the end of the year picnic, and special snacks. If you decide not to donate, you may be called upon to help out with party supplies. Please send the money in an envelope with your child’s name on it as soon as possible.
