Daily 5
Daily 5 is a management system I use during reading workshop. The Daily 5 fosters a lifelong love of reading and writing. It consists of five tasks that are introduced one at a time. When I introduce each task we discuss what it looks like, sounds like and feels like to engage in the task independently. Once all 5 tasks are introduced the children work on their stamina to become stronger and more independent readers.
The five tasks include:
- Read to Self
- Read to Someone
- Listen to reading
- Work on Writing
- Word Work
While the children are engaged in reading and writing activities I am able to work with small groups or confer with children on a one on one.
