Looking for homework???

AGENDA

Click on the current quarter (on the left) to view the daily agenda.  Click on the “Google Docs” picture at the top of the agenda page to get copies of anything distributed in class.

What about grades & Parent Portal?  I try to update grades each weekend in order to be up-to-date for Monday’s automatic e-mail.  Please be patient — with three preps, I need to work in planning time as well.

HOMEWORK/LATE-WORK POLICY:

  • Students earn 10/10 points on any homework that is turned in on time and is complete.  I date-stamp all homwork with the turn-in date.
  • Late homework is given a maximum of 7/10 points.
  • Incomplete homework is not accepted (late or on time) — it will be scored a 0.1/10 in the gradebook and marked “INC” until it is completed.
  • DEADLINES — Homework is typically due the day after it is assigned.  Any homework not complete by the beginning of the hour is considered late (even if it is complete, but sitting in a locker or at home, if it is not in the student’s hand when class begins, it is late.)
  • LATE WORK:   The day of a test is the last date any homework related to that topic may be turned in late.  For example, when I give the rock-cycle test, all missing homework related to rocks may be turned in on the test date.  Once I give a test on a topic, I no longer accept homework related to that topic — we are moving on to the next topic.

TEST RE-TAKE POLICY:

  • A student must have failed the test (scored below a 60%) in order to qualify for a re-take.
  • The re-take must be taken within three school days of receiving the test results (date that scores are posted online).
  • Test retakes will NOT earn a score above 60% and the retake score is the recorded score (if you do worse on the re-take, your score will go down).
  • The re-take test may be a different version of the original test, or may be a completely different test.
  • It is up to the student to make an appointment (before school, after school, or during 6+) for re-taking the test.

WELCOME!

Welcome to the Siefert Science Site.  The purpose of this site is to open my classroom doors and invite parents, community members, and students to come on in!

I teach three different classes — 8th Grade Science (primairly earth science), 7th & 8th grade Internet, and a 7th & 8th grade CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) exploratory class.   My hope is that as we make our way through the school year, the focus will be on the students and increasing their understanding of how science and technology touch us on a daily basis.

So … come on in … and take a peek inside.

Parent Portal

Parents — if you haven’t signed up for your parent portal user id and password, please do so as soon as possible.  You can check your child’s grades and attendance at any time.

CLICK HERE to login:  LCPS Parent Portal

PARENT PORTAL TIPS:

  • Once you log in you will see all of your child’s current grades.
  • Click on one of the grades and you will then see all of the assignments that were used to calculate the grade.
  • Check the date (very bottom of teacher page) to see how current the data is — each teacher has his/her own system for how often grades are updated.  (My goal is weekly.)
