Well, that was fun! We have to give a great big THANK YOU to Mrs. Watson and the 1/2/3’s! It was so nice to meet all of you. We had such a lovely time Skyping.
We learned many wonderful facts from our friends in British Columbia, Canada. Here are some of the highlights:
We both started blogging about the same time this year.
There are 38 students at A.J. Elliott Elementary and 328 at Sugarbush.
800 people live in their town and 11,000 live here.
Our temperature was 82° F (28°C) compared to their 52°F (11°C).
The 1/2/3’s live on an island and we live on a peninsula.
It was interesting to hear that they have wolves, birds, white-tailed deer, ocean life, and 1 unwanted grizzly bear!
We compared our Lake St. Clair to their Big Lake, which Mrs. Watson said was actually small!
The 1/2/3’s enjoy marbles, sports and swimming.
Their area is best known for 100 year old houses.
We learned that the 1/2/3’s take swimming lessons and it can be quite an adventure just to get to the pool. They take a ferry, walk to a bus, change at the pool, and then wait for the lifeguard!
We especially enjoyed listening to each other’s national anthems. The 1/2/3’s sounded fantastic as they sang “O Canada.” After the Techie Kids sang the “Star-Spangled Banner,” both classes remarked that we felt like we were attending a hockey game! That was fun for both Canucks and Red Wings fans!
