WE'VE BEEN CHALLENGED!
Oct 17
Mr. Baker has posted a picture of a very special building in NZ and have asked us to tell him what it is.
We are going to work on it Monday but I have five white slips for the first person in any of my social studies classes to identify it. I will give you a hint. It’s a very famous building in New Zealand.

A QUESTION FROM MR. B
Oct 17

We just got this from Mr. Baker. He read our post about the discussion we had on the Vietnam Veterans War Memorial and asked
I have been to America a few times and we thought it was the most patriotic country we had been to. Everywhere we went there were flags and symbols of America.
Question: Why is America so patriotic?? Where did this sense of Patriotism come from???
Let’s give this question some thought and on Monday we will give him some answers.

THE WALL
Oct 17

Thanks for the great discussion Friday in Social Studies. We were talking about the core democratic value of Patriotism and I ended the lesson by reading the book The Wall.
Several of you have been to the Vietnam War Veterans Memorial in Washington D. C. and shared your remembrances of wall with us.
It is an amazing place. I still remember how “quiet” the whole area seemed to be.
