COINS FOR CANCER

Hi everyone, it’s Sarah!  I just want everybody to know about Coins for Cancer.

Coins for Cancer is a jar sent to all the classrooms.  Each class puts coins in it to help doctors afford to do research on cancer cells.

So save up some some spare change and make a difference.  Now I have to go and put some in myself.house 027

TELL ME

Forrest here.  This week’s poem is called Tell Me:  Mr. Alvaro had us illustrate it.  Some of our drawings at down at the bottom of the poem.

Tell me I’m clever,

Tell me I’m kind,

Tell me  I’m talented ,

Tell me I’m cute ,

Tell me I’m sensitive, graceful and wise,

Tell me I’m perfect……….. but tell me the truth.

ISN’T TECHNOLOGY WONDERFUL?

When I started teaching years ago the printing press had just been invented and they were printing books all over the place.

If I wanted to copy something I had to write it down on this thing called a ditto and then run it on the mimeograph machine.     The greatest thing about dittos was that they smelled great.

Then came the  XEROX machine, computer, cassette tapes, eight tracks, albums, CDs, DVDs, and Blue Ray.  And there is no end in sight.  I just read an article about 3D home TV.

And now you can order books for your kids online.  From home, the office, your car (OK don’t order while driving), anywhere.  And in a week they will be delivered right to school.  The book club handles it all, I never see any of it till the book order box shows up on my desk.

Wow!

If you want to give it a try just go to scholastic.com. Then click the parents tab which takes you to another menu that says Book Club Orders.  From there you just sign in and away you go.  I tried it at home and it worked great.

So give it a try and let me know how it worked out.   They have a help button that has the answers to all your questions.     Send me an email if you have any questions they don’t answer.

What a world.

P.S.   You still can order books the good old fashioned way with cash or a check.

P.S.S.   I had the kids write the parents log in name and password in the back of their agendas.
