Book Treasure-The first thanksgiving

This week we read The First Thanksgiving. We talked about the journey across the ocean, pilgrims, the hardship they faced and the first Thanksgiving. We also made a key chain with beads to help retell the story. I do not have a recording of this story. Therefore use the retelling sheet as a guide for the response sheet.

In the beginning the Pilgrims came over from England on the Mayflower. They sailed across the ocean for 3 months. Finally they spotted land. There was a lot of snow during their first winter. A lot of them died because it was a long hard winter. When spring came they met the indians. They helped them a lot. They celebrated with a feast. The indians and the pilgrims became friends. The women and the girls spent most of the time cooking and serving. The men did the hunting. Some food they ate at the feast was turkey, cranberries, corn, pumpkins, pumpkin pie, and cornbread.
